Bhubaneswar, March 23: Former Union Minister Dr. Debendra Pradhan is no more with us. He has left us for the heaven for good, leaving countless memories scripted in almost half-a century of his socio-political life.
Leaders, cutting across party lines, intellectuals, social workers, and people belonging to different walks of life are yet mourning the demise of Dr. Debendra Pradhan, despite he was consigned to the pyre almost a week ago. Heartfelt tributes are also dropped in from across the nation through a series of remembrance events organized at Dr. Pradhan’s cradle land at Talcher in Odisha’s Angul district.
While, a massive adieu was accorded to late Pradhan by President Droupadi Murmu, the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister,Union Health Minister, a tearful tribute was offered in Bhubaneswar and Puri after Dr. Pradhan’s mortal remains was imported here form New Delhi on March 17.
Meanwhile, Union Ministers Giriraj Singh, G Kishan Reddy, Rao Indrajeet Singh and Anupriya Patel with MPs Arun Singh and Alok Sharma visited Dr Pradhan's residence in Bhubaneswar and paid floral tributes to Dr. Pradhan’s portrait.
The leaders recalled Dr. Pradhan's enormous contributions to the BJP in serving the nation with true democracy.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, condoled Dr. Pradhan’s son & Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan with his bereaved family members, sending a message.
Yogi wrote, "Dr Debendra Pradhan was a great organizer and public leader. His contribution to the national politics was immense. With his passing away, the nation lost a big leader.My condolences to the bereaved family."
A district-level commemoration meeting was also held at Angul under the chairmanship of Pratap Chandra Pradhan. Elites and intelligentsias including political leaders, civil citizens, members of various social organizations, social activists, and people from different walks of life joined the event in large numbers unanimously and paid rich tributes to Dr. Pradhan.
In the remembrance notes, most of the intellectuals shared their sweet experiences with Dr. Pradhan. Similarly, the senior citizens present over the meeting underlined the selfless service of the veteran leader during their recalls.
Similalry, a grand remembrance meeting was organized at Dr. Pradhan’s birthplace at Talcher on Sunday. A gathering of more than thousands of Dr. Pradhan’s, fellowmen, lovers and denizens, bowed down before the contribution of the great soul to the soil following a silent prayer,dedicated to him. Meanwhile, some contemporary prominent local figures commemorated the glorious history of Dr. Pradhan and his philosophy of life, as a physician and an opinion leader, groomed up from the city of black diamond.
Adaging the memoirs of Pabitra Mohan Pradhan, one of the greatest freedom fighters & sepoy of the ‘Prajamandal Movement, some nonagenarians enunciated Dr. Pradhan as a versatile leader who will be remembered for all time to come.
