Bhubaneswar, December 19: Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal has strongly criticized the Congress party over a scuffle in Parliament on Thursday, which left Balasore BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi injured.
"We condemn such acts of 'goondaism.' This marks a dark chapter in Indian democracy," said Samal, accusing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of "behavioural imbalance." He added that the incident, involving senior BJP leaders sustaining injuries, is being widely condemned by the people of India.
The scuffle occurred during a protest by opposition MPs against Union Home Minister Amit Shah's recent remarks in the Rajya Sabha, which they claimed disrespected Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. According to Sarangi, Rahul Gandhi allegedly pushed another MP, triggering a chain reaction that caused Sarangi to fall and sustain a head injury.
Samal extended wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured leaders, who are receiving treatment at Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital. He also accused the Congress party of disrespecting leaders like Ambedkar and alleged that they only prioritize the "Gandhi Parivar."
The Odisha BJP President emphasized that the BJP upholds constitutional values, unlike Congress, which he accused of repeatedly misusing the Constitution.
