Baripada, Mar 14: In a gory incident, a prominent businessman was allegedly murdered at his residence in Baripada of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
The body of the deceased businessman, identified as Snehasish Panda, was found with his throat slit.
As per eyewitnesses, an unknown assailant entered Panda’s residence and committed the crime before fleeing from the spot. Upon learning about the incident, his neighbors rescued Panda and rushed him to PRM Medical College where he succumbed to his injuries.
After being informed, police arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. The cops also seized the victim’s body and sent it for post-mortem.
However, the exact motive behind the gruesome killing still remains unclear.
A probe has been launched into the matter and efforts are on to identify and nab the absconding killer, said the police.
