Bhubaneswar, January 22: In order to bolster the State’s healthcare infrastructure and improve public health services, the Odisha Cabinet on Wednesday approved proposal for recruitment of 5000 doctors including 124 dentists.
With it, the state government tendered its nod to amendment of the Odisha Medical & Health Services Rules, 2017.
This decision was taken by the Odisha Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today.
The amendment of the Odisha Medical & Health Services Rules, 2017 will simplify the recruitment process by adjusting the rank of medical positions from Level 7 to Level 6.
This reform is expected to make the hiring process more efficient and encourage greater participation from medical professionals, said Chief Minister Majhi while briefing pressers.
In addition, the establishment of more medical colleges is planned, which will likely increase the number of qualified doctors entering the healthcare system.
In a swift implementation of this recruitment strategy, the positions for 5,000 doctors are set to be filled without delay.
Apart from it, the state is all set to appoint 124 dentists in government hospitals.
Similarly, in a bid to providing specialised health care, additional specialist posts have been created at DHH, SDH & CHC levels.
After taking all aspects into consideration the Cabinet approved the newly formulated Odisha Medical & Health Services (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Amendment Rules, 2025 as proposed by the Health and FW Department.
