Bhubaneswar, Apr 17: In a significant step to improve traffic management and road safety in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Thursday approved the creation of 2,000 new posts in the state’s traffic department.
According to the official announcement, a total of 70 posts will be created at the state level and 1,930 at the district level. The move aims to strengthen the traffic network and ensure smoother road regulation.
At the state-level traffic setup, the newly approved posts include one post of ADGP/IGP, one post of DIG (Police), two SP posts, four DSP posts, six Inspector posts, eight SI (Sub-Inspector) posts, eight ASI (Assistant Sub-Inspector) posts, 22 Constable posts, 10 Driver posts, one Establishment Officer, one Section Officer, three Assistant Section Officers (ASO), and three Junior Assistant posts.
Similarly, at the district level, the following posts will be created – five DSP posts, 41 Inspector posts, 83 SI posts, 83 ASI posts, 310 Havildar posts, 1,408 Constable posts.
This brings the total number of new traffic posts to 2,000 across Odisha.
CM Majhi expressed confidence that this decision will not only improve traffic regulation but also help in reducing road accidents, making Odisha a model state in road safety for others to follow.
