Bhubaneswar, February 15: The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), which has seen a steady decline in both electoral and organizational strength in recent years, has announced a 60 km Padayatra to Puri, hoping for divine blessings to revive the party under the leadership of its newly appointed State President, Bhakta Charan Das.

Bhakta Charan Das, who was recently appointed as the OPCC president, described the Padayatra as a Gandhian method of reaching out to the people. The march, called the Sankalpa Padyatra, will begin on February 18 from Bhubaneswar and proceed towards the Puri Jagannath Temple.

The OPCC has called on all party leaders and workers to take part in this Padyatra. To ensure smooth coordination, the committee formed to oversee the event is headed by former MLA Debasis Pattnaik. The 16-member committee also includes prominent party figures such as Ex-MLA Mohammed Moquim, Congress legislators Ramesh Jena, Dasarathi Gomanga, C.S. Raazen Ekka, Kadraka Appala Swamy, and Ashok Kumar Das, among others.

It is worth noting that Bhakta Charan Das has previously also led numerous Padayatras and cycle yatras across the state, addressing various social issues.
