Bhubaneswar, November 18: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo announced that farmers will receive an additional ₹800 as input subsidy, supplementing the minimum support price (MSP). The subsidy distribution is set to begin on December 8 from Sohela in Bargarh district.
The paddy procurement process will commence on November 20 in Bargarh district, following the established procedures. Singh Deo, who also serves as the Agriculture Minister, assured that the government is prioritizing measures to simplify procurement, including the deployment of grain analyzers.
"The CM has declared that paddy procurement will start on November 20 from Bargarh district. Input subsidy distribution of ₹800 will follow on December 8 from Sohela," Singh Deo said.
He further stated that grain analyzers are being introduced to ensure efficient procurement, starting with select districts. The government plans to expand availability as the procurement progresses.
Elephant Electrocution in Sambalpur Under Probe
Addressing the recent electrocution deaths of three elephants in Sambalpur district, Singh Deo attributed the incident to illegal electric fences set up by locals to hunt wild boars. He emphasized the government's commitment to hold offenders accountable.
"Everybody knows the electrocution was caused by people using electric wires for hunting wild boars. The government will investigate thoroughly, and those found guilty will face strict action," he affirmed.
The Deputy CM also called for greater public responsibility in wildlife conservation, urging villagers to collaborate with authorities to prevent such incidents.
