Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, November 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for the warm reception at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
Sharing his enthusiasm for the summit proceedings, PM Modi posted on X, saying, "Looking forward to the proceedings at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Thankful to President Lula for the warm welcome."
Upon arrival, PM Modi and President Lula shared a cordial handshake, symbolizing the close ties between the two nations. Earlier, PM Modi appreciated the vibrant display of Indian culture during his welcome ceremony in Brazil. He shared visuals of Indian community members singing Vande Mataram with traditional instruments and performing Garba dances. Expressing his appreciation, the Prime Minister remarked, "A celebration of Indian culture in Brazil! Gratitude for a memorable welcome in Rio de Janeiro."
India and Brazil share a multifaceted relationship encompassing cultural, spiritual, and diplomatic engagements. Spiritual organizations like ISKCON, Ramakrishna Mission, and others have a significant presence in Brazil, reflecting the country’s interest in Indian philosophy and arts.
PM Modi’s visit to Brazil follows the successful completion of his tour in Nigeria. As a Troika member at the G20 Summit, India aims to build on the progress made during its G20 presidency last year.
