Bhubaneswar, April 23: The Odisha government has established three new Civil Judge (Junior Division) Courts to strengthen access to justice in the state. These courts have been set up in Baliapal (Balasore district), Lefripada (Sundargarh district), and Rengali (Sambalpur district), with the aim of improving legal infrastructure in these areas.
The decision, taken in consultation with the Odisha High Court, received the approval of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. An official notification regarding the establishment of these courts was issued on April 23, 2025.
This strategic move addresses the rising demand for judicial services in these revenue tehsils. By setting up localized courts, the government aims to reduce the workload of existing judicial institutions and speed up the resolution of civil cases. Each new court will have jurisdiction over its respective tehsil, replacing the authority of other Junior Division Civil Judge Courts in those areas.
The initiative underscores Odisha’s commitment to bolstering its judicial system, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. Residents are expected to benefit significantly from easier access to legal remedies, reduced travel burdens, and quicker case handling. Legal professionals and community members alike have welcomed the move, highlighting its potential to enhance efficiency and accessibility within the justice delivery system.
