Bhubaneswar, August 30: The Odisha government will recruit 28,439 teachers soon to address the shortage of teachers in various schools.
This was informed by School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond in Odisha Assembly on Thursday.
The recruitment drive will include 16,519 junior teachers, 1375 PGT and 6025 teachers for Upper Primary schools.
The Odisha government has allocated 17 percent more fund in the Budget as compared to last year. A total of Rs 26391, 08,78,000 crore has been earmarked for the School and Mass Education Department, he stated.
The state government has decided to implement the PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme of the Centre from 2024-25 financial year.
Under the scheme the Centre will contribute 60 percent funding and the state government share will be 40 percent. Rs 25 crore has been earmarked for implementation of this Centre sponsored scheme in Odisha.
The Odisha government will take steps to reopen over 5,000 schools that were closed during the BJD government. However, the matter is sub-judice, the Minister said.
