Balangir, Apr 21: In a tragic incident, a minor boy drowned while bathing in a pond in Saintala locality of Odisha’s Balangir district on Monday.
The deceased boy has been identified as Priya Darshan Jena, a Plus II student and resident of Anand Nagar in Balangir city.
As per reports, Priya Darshan along with his friends had gathered at Santuper village under Saintala police limits in the district to attend a wedding ceremony. All of them were bathing together, when Priya Darshan drowned in the water.
The villagers jumped to their rescue and pulled them of water. All of them were then rushed to Saintala Community Health Centre (CHC), where the attending doctors declared Priya Darshan dead.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the hospital and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the incident was underway.
