Bhubaneswar, April 21: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will distribute financial assistance to farmers under the CM Kisan Yojana on the occasion of agrarian festival Akshaya Tritiya on April 30.
Around 50 lakh farmers will receive the financial assistance through direct benefit transfer (DBT). They will use the money for farming activities in the Kharif season, said an official on Monday.
On the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, the farmers perform 'Akhi Muthi Anukula', the ritual of sowing seeds in their paddy fields after ploughing their lands.
CM Kisan Yojana aims to provide financial assistance to farmers who are not covered under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) yojana. Eligible farmers will receive a total of Rs 4,000 in two phases. The first instalment of Rs 2,000 will be distributed on Nuakhai, and the remaining Rs 2,000 will be provided on Akshaya Tritiya.
Landless farmers will get Rs 12,500 every year in three installments under the CM-Kisan Yojana.
For timely financial assistance and input support to the farmers, Rs 2,020 crore has been budgeted for 2025-26 under the CM-Kisan scheme.
