Bhubaneswar, April 21: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (40-50 km/h) across several Odisha districts till April 23.
From April 24 to 26, heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in parts of the state, particularly in Jharsuguda, Bolangir, Sundargarh, and Sambalpur, with day temperatures expected to soar above 42°C in many western districts, including Angul, Sonepur, Bargarh, Boudh, Kalahandi, and Nuapada.
Scattered light rain or thundershowers may occur in the afternoon or evening in districts such as Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khurda, Ganjam, Koraput, Malkangiri, and others till April 23, while dry weather will prevail elsewhere.
Additionally, hot and humid conditions are likely in coastal districts like Puri, Jagatsinghpur, and Gajapati during this period.
IMD also forecasts a 3-5°C rise in maximum temperatures over the next three days, warning residents to take precautions against the soaring heat.
