Bhubaneswar: The 32-member Odisha para-athletics team of Odisha bagged seven medals including four gold, 2 silver and a bronze medal in the 23rd National Para Athletics Championship 2025, which concluded at Chennai on Thursday.
Odisha’s Suchitra Parida produced a record-breaking performance in the Women’s F-55 Javelin event, winning the gold medal with a phenomenal throw of 18.79m, breaking her own national record.
Star sprinter Jayanti Behera clinched her third gold medal in the Women’s T-47 200m, clocking 27.24 seconds. She had previously won gold in the T-47 women’s 100m and 400m event, proving her dominance on the national stage.
Kamala Kanta Nayak and Pankaj Bhue won a silver medal each in the Men’s F-53 Javelin and Men’s T-13 Long Jump events respectively, while Janaki Oram got a bronze medal in the Women’s T-12 100m.
This remarkable achievement reflects the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of the athletes, as well as the support from the Para Sports Association of Odisha (PSAO) and the Department of Sports and Youth Services (DSYS), Government of Odisha.
