Berhampur, Mar 11: Odisha’s coastline is set to receive a major tourism boost with the proposed Berhampur Marine Drive project.
The ambitious plan aims to connect Rushikulya Beach with Sonapur Blue Flag Beach, passing through Dhabaleswar, Arjyapali, Gopalpur Beach, IISER Berhampur, and Tampara Lake.
Designed to enhance connectivity between key beach destinations, the Marine Drive is expected to transform the region into a major eco-tourism hub.
The scenic corridor will showcase Odisha’s coastal beauty, offering visitors a unique blend of picturesque beaches, tranquil backwaters, and rich biodiversity. The inclusion of Tampara Lake and IISER Berhampur will further introduce educational and eco-tourism elements, making the route more attractive to travelers and researchers alike.
Experts believe the project could position Odisha as one of India’s top coastal tourism destinations, competing with established hotspots across the country. If executed efficiently, the Berhampur Marine Drive will not only elevate Odisha’s tourism potential but also contribute significantly to local infrastructure development and job creation.
