Odisha: Seven injured in violent group clash over long-standing land dispute

Bhubaneswar, Feb 24: At least seven people sustained grievous injuries in a violent group clash that broke out late last night in Aul locality of Odisha's Kendrapara district.

As per reports, the group clash broke out between the families of Sankarsan Das and Bharat Das at Manikapatna village under Aul police limits in the district over a long-standing land dispute. The land dispute has been prevailing for the past three years.

Tensions escalated when one group attempted to construct a structure, sparking heated arguments throughout the day. The situation deteriorated further at night over a parking dispute, ultimately leading to a violent clash between the two sides.

Both sides engaged in a violent clash using sharp weapons, leaving seven people severely injured. Due to excessive blood loss, four of them reportedly lost consciousness. 

Following the incident, all the injured were initially rushed to Aul Community Health Center (CHC) in a critical condition at around 1 AM and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as their health deteriorated.

Following the group clash, tension prevailed in the village. Police have been deployed at the site to tackle further escalation of the situation and maintain law and order.
