Kendrapara, Feb 21: In a tragic incident, several Class 10 students on their way to appear for the annual matriculation exam conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) were injured in a road mishap in Rajnagar block of Odisha’s Kendrapara district.
As per reports, as many as 11 students were en route to their exam centre in an SUV when the driver of the vehicle lost control over the wheels and hit a cyclist. Subsequently, the SUV overturned killing the cyclist on the spot and injuring several students.
The deceased cyclist has been identified as Subrat Mandal. The condition of a girl student is reported to be critical, preventing her from taking the exam.
It is worth mentioning that the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examinations conducted by the BSE began today in Odisha and will continue until March 6, 2025.
A total of over 5.22L students will appear for the Class X exams scheduled from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM, which will take place at 3,133 centers across the state.
Though an exact date has not been specified yet, the results are expected to be announced in May 2025.
Students who do not perform satisfactorily in the main examination will have the opportunity to improve their scores through supplementary exams, with dates to be announced after the main results.
