Bhubaneswar, Mar 17: Odisha Vigilance arrested an accountant at the Block Education Officer’s (BEO) office in Rajkanika in Kendrapara district Md Firoz Khan while accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from a Self-Help Group (SHG).
Sources said, Khan has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe of Rs.20,000/- ( Rupees Twenty Thousand) from a Complainant in lieu of passing bill amount of Rs.1.93 Lakhs and for releasing the balance amount of an SHG who had already supplied school uniforms to Schools of Rajkanika Block as per terms and conditions of the Govt.
The entire tainted bribe money of Rs.20,000/- has been recovered from the possession of accused Md. Khan and seized.
Following the trap, search is being conducted at one place connected to Md. Khan from DA angle.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS case no 5/2025, U/s 7P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Md. Khan, Accountant, office of BEO, Rajkanika, Kendrapara. Detailed report follows.
