Koraput, Dec 27: The Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI) and In-charge Revenue Inspector of Kumuli Circle under Boriguma Tehsil in Koraput district Surendra Tanti, was arrested by the Odisha Vigilance for owning assets disproportionate to his known income sources.
The arrest followed an investigation that revealed Tanti had amassed wealth far beyond his official earnings. His assets include three multi-storey buildings, 17 plots, bank deposits exceeding Rs 84 lakh, 150 grams of gold, Rs 1.55 lakh in cash, and three cars. Unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for these assets, Tanti was taken into custody.
A case has been filed against him under Koraput Vigilance PS case No. 31/2024, and the investigation is ongoing. Tanti is scheduled to be produced in court today.
