Pahalgam Terrorist Attack: Tale of three Pakistani women in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, April 26: Following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the Indian government has ordered Pakistani nationals living on long-term visas to leave the country.

 In Odisha, three Pakistani women who have been living in Odisha for more than decades are now forced to leave their families immediately. These women are seriously affected by the order of the central government, they said.

These women are Sarada Kukreja from Balangir, Nagma Yusuf from Bhubaneswar, and Razia Sultana from Balasore, have received notices to depart soon.

Sarada, who has been living in Balangir for 35 years after marrying an Indian, pleaded to stay, citing her deep roots in India. Sarada expressed with distress that she has no family left in Pakistan and has been an active participant in local elections, possessing an election ID and an Aadhaar card. Her husband and children are Indian citizens, and she requested the government not to separate her from her family. 

Similarly, Nagma Yusuf is married to Mohammed Nizamuddin in a love marriage, and her visa expired in 2024. She had applied for an exit visa, which is still pending.

Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena confirmed that the necessary formalities were completed and instructed departure by April 27. 

Razia Sultana, living in Soro, Balasore district for three decades, has also been directed to leave immediately. 

In total, around 12 Pakistani nationals in Odisha are reportedly impacted by the order.
