New Delhi, March 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Kerala-born rapper Sooraj Cherukat, also known as Hanumankind, for his song "Run It Up," which is gaining international acclaim for promoting India's traditional culture.
In the 120th edition of his monthly radio program, Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi highlighted how the song is helping showcase Indian martial arts on the global stage. "Our traditional games are increasingly being integrated into mainstream culture. The latest track by renowned rapper Hanumankind, 'Run It Up,' is currently gaining significant popularity," said the Prime Minister.
PM Modi also commended the 33-year-old artist for incorporating traditional Indian martial arts such as Kalaripayattu, Gatka, and Thang-Ta into the song, stating, "I congratulate Hanumankind for his efforts in making the world more aware of our traditional martial arts." The Prime Minister shared his appreciation on social media as well, writing, "Whether it's Fiji, Mauritius, Guyana, Suriname, or Trinidad & Tobago, our cultural connections are thriving! #MannKiBaat."
An official post from the PMO's X handle also acknowledged Hanumankind's achievement, stating, "Renowned rapper Hanumankind's new song has gained significant popularity, with traditional martial arts like Kalaripayattu, Gatka, and Thang-Ta featured in it."
Hanumankind's track "Run It Up" has topped the music charts, dominating the Official Asian Music Chart for three consecutive weeks. The song follows the success of his previous hit "Big Dawgs" and its music video blends elements of India's rich cultural diversity, paying tribute to the nation's heritage by fusing folk traditions with martial arts.
