New Delhi, December 3: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday accused the recent violence in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal of being part of a "well-planned" conspiracy. He warned that the ongoing rhetoric of "khudai" (digging) promoted by the BJP and its allies could undermine communal harmony across the country.
Addressing the Lok Sabha, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh held the local police and administration responsible for the violence that erupted in Sambhal. He alleged that police officers opened fire using both official and personal weapons, resulting in the deaths of five innocent people and leaving several others injured. This, according to Yadav, occurred after locals pelted stones at the police in protest of their oppressive actions.
