Puri , Nov 10: At least ten devotees, including some elderly persons were injured and hospitalised due to stampede like situation in Puri Shree Jagannath temple this morning. The injured were discharged after being provided with primary healthcare.
As per reports, the incident occurred after Mangal Aalati when devotees were allowed inside the temple. Many of the devotees fell on the ground and they have to be rescued by temple management.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Ranjan Kumar Das said that sudden rush of devotees inside the temple led to overcrowding. “We have made all necessary arrangement for smooth Darshan,” said Das.
Every year during the auspicious month of Kartik, a huge crowd flock the holy city of Puri for darshan of the trinity.
