Bhubaneswar: The 9th State level Visually Impaired Cricket Tournament for men inaugurated at Hitech Medical College and Hospital cricket ground Pandra on Tuesday. Cricket Association for the Visually Impaired Odisha with the support of Sports and Youth Servvices Department Govt of Odisha and HI-Tech Medical college and Hospital organising the event.
There are 14 teams participating in the tournament and the final will be held on 19th October. On the basis of the performance in the tournament the Odisha team will be selected to participate in the Nagesh Trophy National cricket tournament for the Blind 2024-25.
The participating teams are, Marangburu cricket club Mayurbhanj, school for the Blind Ranipatna Balasore, Maa Tarini cricket club Keonjhar, Youngstar cricket club Angul, Maa Sarala Cricket club Jagatsingpur, Banadurga cricket team Cuttack, Unique 11 Cricket Star team Cuttack, Adarsha Bbsr cricket team, School for the Blind Koraput, western Odisha rising star cricket club Bargarh, Akhandalamani Cricket club Bhadrak, Shri Jaggannatth cricket club for the Blind Puri, Maa Samleswari cricket club Sambalpur and Koraput cricket club for the blind Koraput.
The event was inaugurated by Galaka Mohapatra the State Vice President of Bharatiya Janata Party, among others Major Dr. Kalpana Das the Chairman of Child and Women Development Society, Manasmita Jena the General Secretary of Saksham foundation and Jyotirmayee Panda the Chief Operating Offficer of HI-Tech Medical college and hospital grace the occasion.
The General Secretary of CAVI Odisha Sannyasai Kumar Behera thanked the Sports and Youth Services Department Govt of Odisha and Hi-Tecch Medical college and Hospital for supporting this event.
