Bhubaneswar, Nov 2: The Temporary Transit Centre (TTC) near Sainik School has become a major concern of people in the surrounding area that is rising with the pile of dump.

The stench from the garbage hill has made the life of locals miserable with many complaining health issues.

The students of Sainik School and Central School are suffering the most. Though the two school authorities have informed the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) in this regard, the civic body has turned deaf ear to their plea.

Residents of Mancheswar, VSS Nagar, Shahid Nagar, Acharya Vihar, Damana, Chandrasekharpur, and Rangamatia areas are suffocating in the foul smell of garbage.

The situation here turned acute after BMC stopped transporting waste from the site to Bhuasuni dumping yard in Daruthenga.

The civic body used to transport 400 trucks of garbage from the TTC which has been stopped for the last four months turning the mini dumping yard into a garbage hill.

The foul smell is coming out due to the undergoing segregation work. All the waste will be removed by April next year, said municipal commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange.
