Kashmir, April 26: Acting on precise intelligence, a joint operation was launched today by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Camp Machil and the Indian Army’s 12 SIKHLI unit in the dense forests of Sedori Nala, Mushtaqabad Machil—part of the Samsha Behak forest region. The area falls under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kupwara and Police Post Machil, according to a press release from the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
During the operation, security forces successfully uncovered and dismantled a terrorist hideout. A substantial cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the site. The seized items include:
Five AK-47 rifles
Eight AK-47 magazines
One pistol with a magazine
660 rounds of AK-47 ammunition
One pistol round
50 rounds of M4 rifle ammunition
This recovery marks a major breakthrough, as initial intelligence suggested the terrorists were plotting to disrupt peace and stability in the region. The swift and coordinated action by security forces has effectively foiled those plans and eliminated a significant threat to civilian lives and public safety.
The operation highlights the strong resolve and seamless coordination among security forces in countering anti-national elements and preserving peace in Jammu and Kashmir. An investigation into the recovered items and the busted hideout is currently underway.
Meanwhile, in response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, security has been intensified across the region. Security agencies have launched a large-scale manhunt to track down those responsible for the April 22 attack, which claimed 26 lives.
Jammu and Kashmir Police have released sketches and identified three terrorists believed to be behind the attack. All three are affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group. A reward of Rs 20 lakh has been announced for information leading to the capture of each of the suspects.
The identified individuals are Adil Hussain Thoker, a resident of Anantnag, Ali Bhai, also known as Talha Bhai, Hasim Musa, also known as Suleiman.
