A new era is dawning at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the governing body of the renowned Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple. Following a recent controversy surrounding the purity of its iconic laddoo prasad, the newly reconstituted TTD board, under the leadership of chairman B.R. Naidu, has unveiled a series of transformative measures designed to enhance the pilgrim experience, improve efficiency, and reaffirm the temple's spiritual sanctity.
The reforms, driven by Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's vision, address a wide range of issues, from prasad quality and queue management to staffing and religious practices. Key Reforms:
Prasad purity: An expert committee will oversee the selection of ghee for laddoo preparation, and a state-of-the-art laboratory will be established to ensure its quality, reflecting the TTD's dedication to upholding the sanctity of temple offerings.
AI-Powered queue management: Artificial intelligence will be employed to streamline the "Sarva Darshanam" (free darshan) queue, reducing waiting times from over 12 hours to approximately 3 hours, significantly improving the pilgrim experience.
Non-Hindu staff relocation: In line with an election promise, non-Hindu staff will be relocated to other government departments or offered voluntary retirement, ensuring that the temple's workforce aligns with its religious ethos.
Curbing religious propagation: The TTD will strictly prohibit the propagation of any religion other than Hinduism within the temple premises, maintaining the sanctity of the sacred site.
Disbanding the SRIVANI Trust: The SRIVANI Trust, established during the previous administration, will be disbanded due to alleged irregularities, with its funds merged into the main TTD account.
- Reclaiming Land and restoring names: The TTD will reclaim land from the Visakha Sarada Peetham and restore the original name of the Tirupati flyover to Garuda Varadhi, reversing decisions made by the previous government.
- Enhancing spiritual ambiance: Cottages in Tirumala will be renamed after divine names, and legacy waste will be cleared to enhance the spiritual atmosphere of the temple town.
