Jagatsinghpur, Mar 4: In a gruesome incident reported from Jayabada area of Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district, a 22-year-old youth allegedly murdered his father, mother and sister reportedly over a family dispute.
The deceased have been identified as Prasant Sethy alias Kalia (65), his wife Kanaklata (62) and daughter Rosalin (25).
After committing the crime, the accused Surjyakant Sethy was trying to flee from the scene but was arrested by the police.
As per reports, a heated exchange of words ensued between Suryakant and his family members over some issue. Later, it escalated and took a violent turn when Suryakant bludgeoned his father, mother and sister with a stone leading to their death on the spot.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and seized the bodies. Subsequently, they were sent for post-mortem.
Though the exact reason behind the gruesome killings is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that it might be fallout over a family dispute.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
