Bhubaneswar: After iconic star Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 the Rule’s mayhem at the box office with the film minting Rs 618 cr net in Hindi, and all set to surpass the Stree 2 record of Rs 627 cr Saturday to become the highest ever grosser in Hindi cinema, another south superstar aka the global star of Oscar winning RRR fame Ram Charan is all set to hit the silver screens next month across the country in 5 languages.
The pan Indian film Game Changer is all set to release on Sankranti 2025. The film has been directed by Shankar, stars Ram Charan, Kiara Advani, Sj Surya and Srikanth. The makers will be releasing a dance number #Dhop featuring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani on Dec 21.
The interesting aside of this film is, the script writer of the film is not a veteran film script writer. Rather, he has been a real-time politician. Yes, you heard it right.
As per reports, S Venkatesan, former Member of Parliament from Madurai, Tamil Nadu, is the script writer of the film Game Changer.
ABOUT S VENKATESAN
Though he is a politician, Venkatesan is also a well known Tamil writer. He is a state committee member of CPI(M) in Tamil Nadu. He was an MP from Madurai in 2019. As per the buzz, director of film Game Changer, Shankar, has handpicked Venkatesan for the role in the political thriller.
Venkatesan has also authored the popular novel Veera Yuga Nayagan Velpari, which many filmmakers wanted to adapt for the big screen.
WILL GAME CHANGER RECREATE RRR MAGIC?
Before answering the question, it needs mentioning here is Oscar winning RRR has been directed by none other than SS Rajamouli who is known for impeccable storytelling and larger than life movies.
The film Game Changer is directed by Shanka Shanmugam, a well known Tamil film director known for his mega hit movies like Kamal Hassan starred Indian, or Rajnikant starred Sivaji: The boss, Robot 2 et al.
His films have also been a big commercial hit, but not like Rajamouli’s Bahubali or RRR.
As per reports, Ram Charan starred Game Changer’s advance booking has been started in North America circuit. The pre-release ticket sales suggest the film trailing far behind RRR
In 2022, RRR scored the highest advance booking in the USA. Ram Charan and Jr NTR led historical action drama had registered pre-sales of $3.46 million for the premiere shows.
WILL IT BE A ‘GAME CHANGER’?
As per Venky Box Office data, Game Changer has scored pre-sales of $129,046 for the USA premieres scheduled on January 9, 2024. It has witnessed a growth of only 27% in the last 24 hours, which is an unexpected dip from the 66% improvement showcased on Wednesday.
The report further added that as of 9:30 Am today (Thursday), 4,519 tickets have been sold from 776 shows across 296 locations in the USA.
But the makers are of the firm hope that with 22 days to go for the premiere, and with an increase in the number of shows at various cinema halls, the trends will witness an upward trend in near future.
