Jajpur, July 7: A youth was trampled to death by an elephant in Charigochhia area in Barchana block under Odisha’s Jajpur district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Rabi Bindhani of Charigochhia village.
According to the information, Rabi and another youth had gone to Bandhapalli forest where they encountered the elephant. While both were attacked by the elephant, one managed to escape. Sadly, Rabi couldn't get away and was trampled by the wild animal.
The other youth who escaped informed the villagers about the incident. They rushed to the forest, rescued him, and took him to the hospital. However, doctors declared Rabi dead.
After being informed, forest officials arrived at the scene and started investigating the incident. Barchana MLA Amar Kumar Nayak visited Rabi's family and assured them to offer government support and assistance during this difficult time.
