Bhubaneswar, November 17: In an unusual and dramatic turn of events, a joint operation by the Hyderabad and Odisha police led to the recovery of ₹14 lakhs hidden inside a cow dung pile in Badamandaruni village of Balasore district.

The cash is suspected to be part of ₹20 lakhs allegedly embezzled by Gopal Behera, an employee of a Hyderabad-based agro company, as per police reports.

The raid took place at the residence of Gopal's in-laws under Kamarda police station limits. Authorities believe Gopal handed over the stolen cash to his brother-in-law, Rabindra Behera, who reportedly concealed it in the cow dung heap.

Kamarda police station IIC Premada Nayak said that while both Gopal and Rabindra are absconding, a family member has been detained for questioning. “The investigation is ongoing, and we are following all leads to bring the accused to justice,” she stated.

Efforts to recover the remaining amount and apprehend the accused are underway.
