Bhubaneswar: Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, the venue of 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, Thursday was chock-a-bloc. With excitement on faces and a glee in the eyes, over 3k delegates of Pravasi Bharatiyas stayed riveted at the stage – looking for arrival of the cynosure of all eyes – PM Narendra Modi.
And as the moment came, when PM Modi reached on to the dias, the rapturous cloud welcomed him wholeheartedly with chants of Modi, Modi... growing big in the air.
The enthusiasm was all the more discernible as the Pravasi Bharatiya delegates zoomed on their mobile cameras to snap the Modi moments.
And PM Modi didn’t let them down.
LOCAL TO GLOBAL
Staying true to the theme of ‘Diaspora’s Contribution to Vikshit Bharat 2047’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his inaugural address at the Pravasi Bhratiya Divas convention gave the mantra of LOCAL to GLOBAL to the over 35 million strong overseas (Pravasi) Indian (Bharatiya) population.
Emphasizing on Diasporas’ stellar role in making local Indian products go global and contribute in making the country a developed nation, PM Modi said:
“I urge you all to purchase "Made in India" food packets, clothes, and other items, either locally or online, and include these products in your kitchens, drawing rooms, and gifts. This endeavor would make substantial contribution towards building a developed India.”
ROADMAP FOR DIASPORAS ROLE IN VIKSHIT BHARAT 2047
Speaking his Mann ki Baat at the Diasporas convention, the PM has presented a clear vision on how the ‘Bharatvanshis’- overseas Indians- play a key role in making India realize the dream of ‘Developed Nation’ by 2047.
In his address to the Pravasi Bharatiyas, PM Modi recalled how Indian Diasporas played a vital role in India achieving the independence in 1947; he then highlighted their role in India's growth via the remittances.
“You have made India the world's top recipient of remittances,” PM Modi highlighted.
Emphasizing on the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047, PM Modi urges the NRIs to invest big in business and financial services through the GIFT (Gujarat International Finance Tec-City) CITY ecosystem, which will then strengthen India's journey towards development.
“Every effort by the diaspora contributes to India's progress”, added PM Modi.
TOURISM TONIC: BRINGING FORIEGN TOURISTS TO VILLAGES
In his address at the convention, PM Modi explained how Pravasi Bharatiyas can play a major role in boosting the tourism of the country that will aid in realising the Vikshit Bharat goal.
The tone and tenor of PM’s address indicate his growth plan for the Tier 1 & 2 cities and other small towns and villages, and so that, they by winging growth on tourism revenues will then give an impetus to Vikshit Bharat 2047.
In this regard, the Prime Minister urged the diaspora to connect the world with India’s heritage by visiting smaller towns and villages and sharing their experiences.
PM said, “Bring at least five friends of non-Indian origin on their next visit to India, inspiring them to explore and appreciate the country.”
MODI’S ‘MAIN HOON NA’ MESSAGE!
In his significant address to the Pravasi Bharatiyas here, PM Modi underlines how Indian govt’s top priorities have been safety and welfare of the Bharatvanshis.
He added, “Your convenience and comfort are Indian govt’s objectives.”
The Prime Minister reiterated, “It is India's responsibility to assist the diaspora during crisis situations, reflecting a key principle of India's foreign policy,” and added that over the past decade, Indian embassies and offices worldwide have been sensitive and proactive.
