Jajpur, April 20: A four-year-old boy, abducted from Thakurmunda market in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj on Friday, has been safely rescued on Sunday from Jajpur.
Some members of the Kinnar Mahasangh, a transgender forum, reportedly handed over the child and the kidnapper, in the guise of a trans, to the police.
According to Kajal Kinnar, secretary of the All Odisha Kinnar Mahasangh, the Thakurmunda IIC informed them about the incident and requested their cooperation. The transgender team searched for the child and received a tip-off about the accused’s plan to shift the child. They immediately rescued the child and handed him over to the police.
Following this the child was handed over to its parents in presence of the Thakurmunda Police.
On the other hand, the accused, identified as Lipu Nayak was remanded to judicial custody.
The precise reason behind the kidnap bid is yet to be ascertained.However,the accused during interrogation claimed his innocence and stated that he took the child as he had lost his mother at the Maa Basulei fair.
