Hyderabad, Jan 3: A city court on Friday granted regular bail to popular Pushpa fame and Tollywood actor Allu Arjun in connection with the tragic stampede case at Sandhya Theatre.
The Nampally Criminal Court, which had reserved its order earlier, decided to grant the actor regular bail. Allu Arjun had previously been on interim bail for four weeks, granted by the Telangana High Court.
As part of the bail conditions, the court instructed the actor to provide two sureties of Rs 50,000 each. He was also directed to cooperate with the investigation and appear at Chikkadpally Police Station every Sunday. His lawyer, Ashok Reddy, mentioned that the court also warned the actor not to influence any witnesses.
The stampede occurred during the premiere show of "Pushpa 2: The Rule," which led to a woman’s death and her son suffering critical injuries. Following the incident, police filed charges for culpable homicide not amounting to murder against Allu Arjun, his team, and the theatre management.
The actor was arrested on December 13 and initially remanded to 14-day judicial custody. However, his legal team quickly approached the High Court, which granted him interim bail. Allu Arjun was released from Chanchalguda Jail the following day. His lawyers argued that he was not responsible for the tragic incident, while the police opposed his bail petition. The case remains under investigation.
