Bhubaneswar Durga Puja 2024: Kathmandu's iconic Buddhist Temple to illuminate in Dumduma

Bhubaneswar, Oct 8: Kathmandu's iconic Buddhist temple will be the centrepiece of this year’s Durga Puja celebrations at Dumduma, promising a unique and vibrant experience for the city's residents. Spanning four days, the festivities will showcase an array of cultural programmes, reflecting rich local traditions.

This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the Dumduma Durga Puja Committee, and a major attraction will be the traditional musical drama Mahishasura Mardini, performed by senior citizens, adding a touch of heritage to the event.

A grand entrance, designed to resemble Kathmandu’s Buddhist temple, is being built by 30 dedicated artisans working day and night. The entrance will be an impressive 60 feet wide and 80 feet tall. The idol of Goddess Durga, standing 14 feet tall and 18 feet wide, will be adorned with a silver crown and ‘Rani Haara’, along with extraordinary decorations for the other deities, creating a stunning visual for devotees.

Devotees can also look forward to traditional offerings from the seventh to the ninth day, including ‘Anna’,’ Dalma’, ‘Khatta’, and ‘Kheer’. Special arrangements for prasad distribution will take place on the ninth day. The festivities will conclude with the Pancha Bhog offering on the night of the tenth day, bringing the worship rituals to a close.

Cultural performances will add further enthusiasm, with a musical drama on the seventh day, group dances on the eighth, and melodious musical performances on the ninth, ensuring an engaging experience for all devotees.
