Bhubaneswar, Dec 30: Mystery shrouded over the death of a food blogger after she was found hanging in hostel bathroom in Adarsh Vihar area of Bhubaneswar today.
The deceased has been identified as Sonali Sanghamitra Parida (25), a resident of Patakura area in Kendrapara district. She was working at a construction company near Baramunda Fire Station and had been residing in the hostel at Adarsh Vihar for the past three years. In addition to her regular job, she had gained recognition as a food vlogger through her culinary explorations.
Though the exact reasons behind Sonali’s death is yet to be ascertained, her family members have brought allegations of murder.
According to her family, Sonali would call her father 3-4 times every day. However on Sunday, she didn’t call at all. Following this, her father called her over 50 times but they went unanswered.
“Later, my son contacted the hostel authorities, who informed us that she was in a serious condition. We immediately asked them to take her to the hospital and rushed to Bhubaneswar. However, upon arrival, the police took us to the hostel bathroom, where my daughter was found hanging. We strongly believe she could not have hanged herself in the latrine, as there isn’t enough space to do so. Therefore, we suspect that she was murdered in a pre-planned manner,” alleged her father.
The cops have seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. Further investigation into the matter was underway.
