Bhubaneswar, July 7: The owner of a Bhubaneswar-based nightclub was arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a woman excise official during a raid here in the wee hours today.
The accused has been identified as the owner of 'Rain The Club' nightclub, Satya Mohanty.
As per reports, the excise officials conducted raids on all dance bars in the city last night. A team, led by Superintendent of Excise Bhubaneswar, Sumati Tripathy raided ‘Rain The Club’ in Laxmisagar area of the city at around 1:40 AM.
During the raid, nightclub owner Satya Mohanty allegedly used abusive language towards the excise officials. When Superintendent Tripathy intervened and asked him to cooperate with the inspection, Mohanty reportedly made inappropriate physical contact with her in the presence of the excise staff and media personnel.
Following this, Superintendent Tripathy lodged a complaint with Laxmisagar police. Acting on it, the cops detained Mohanty and subsequently arrested him under under sections 126(2)/121(1)/132/221/78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He was then forwarded to a local court.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
