Bengaluru, March 5: With a stupendous crack down, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized a big haul of gold bars from a woman passenger on Wednesday.
The DRI sleuths also seized a huge cache of Indian & foreign currencies from the possession of the woman peddler.
Following the seizure, the DRI officials further recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 2.06 crore from the accused’s residence at Lavelle Road, Bengaluru along with huge cache of cash.
As per reports, the (DRI) seized foreign-origin gold bars worth over Rs 12 crore from the woman passenger at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.
As per official sources, a 33-year-old lady passenger, who had arrived from Dubai via Emirates Flight on March 3, was intercepted following intelligence inputs.
Upon examination, gold bars weighing 14.2 kg was found concealed from her vehicle for which she was detained under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962.
Subsequently after the interception, the DRI officials conducted a search at her residence and recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 2.06 crore and Indian currency worth Rs 2.67.
The total seizure in the case now stands at Rs 17.29 crore, informed the DRI.
