Bhubaneswar: Rekha Gupta Thursday took oath as the ninth Chief Minister of Delhi. The Bharatiya Janata Party has chosen her as the face of the 2nd BJP government in Delhi after registering a historic win against the mighty Arvind Kejriwal.

With the RSS ideals in her DNA, she groomed her political leadership roles amidst the Sangh Pracharaks. Steeped to the core in Sangh ideology, Rekha made a foray to student politics in 1992 joining BJP’s student wing ABVP. In 1997, she won the DUSU elections to adorn the post of President.
Her ascension of the political ladder has been gradual. After 10-years, in the year 2007, she won the councillor elections from ward no 54 (Uttari Pithampura).
Eight years later, in the year 2015, she made her electoral debut from the Shalimar Bagh Constituency, and she tasted her first political defeat at the hands of AAP candidate Bandana Kumari.

A glance at her political ascension shows she had not posted a meteoric rise. Rekha Gupta has carved her political space by the dint of her community outreach. Her scintillating community outreach has been evidenced by her polling graph in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly Constituency.

- Made first poll debut in 2015, when Arvind Kejriwal was ascending to his peak.
- In the tsunami of AAP wave, Rekha Gupta lost to the AAP by nearly 11,000 votes
- BJP repeated her from the Shalimar Bagh in 2020, Kejriwal was at his peak then.
- In 2020 polls, Rekha Gupta of BJP faced loss.
- But the STORY was, she lost AAP candidate by mere 3,440 votes
- In the 5-year tenure, Rekha walked away with nearly 8000 votes from the AAP camp

- In the year 2025, when Arvind Kejriwal peak went on a downslope, Rekha won the Shalimarbag constituency with a whopping 29,595 votes

Another strong forte of Rekha Gupta has been that despite working for the voters, participating in agitations and adorning posts of DUSU President and councillor of Uttari Pithampura, she has had a spotless political career. Controversy stayed away from even her shadow.
As per the Affidavit filed before the Election Commission this January, she had clearly stated to the ECI that neither she has any criminal charges on her, nor was convicted in any charges.
WOMAN
She being a prominent woman BJP leader from the National Capital Region, and when the top BJP leadership of PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah having made women empowerment a trump political card of BJP, with her core qualities of loyality, core RSS-ian, good voter outreach skill and non-controversial, won the CM race of Delhi.

A glance at the affidavit she filed with the ECI gives a sneak-peek of her life style.
Her annual income in the last 5-years has increased by 1.02 lakh. As per affidavits details,
- 2019-20 Annual Income: Rs 5.89710 Lakhs
- 2023-24 Annual Income: Rs 6.92050 lakhs
However, her husband’s annual income has notched a growth of 1531% in the last 5-year period.
HUSBAND'S NAME: MANISH GUPTA
- 2019-20 Annual Income: Rs 5.9672 Lakh
- 2023-24 Annual Income: Rs 97.3357 lakh.
Both Husband and wife had 200 shares each of Kesav Shehkari Bank founded in the memory of RRS Ideologue Dr Hegdewar.
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta has shares in news agency Hindustan Samachar, which is considered a RRS linked newswire service (similar to PTI and UNI).
A look at the movable assets announced in the affidavit shows that she doesn’t own any personal vehicle – NO CAR or Two-Wheeler. But she has 225 gms of gold jewellery valuing Rs 18 lakh; whereas the jewellery value with her husband has been declared at Rs 11 lakh.
However, her husband owns a 4-wheeler. (Details of total movable assets table given below).
