New Delhi, December 19: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of using diversionary tactics to suppress discussions on key issues, including the Adani case and Union Home Minister Amit Shah's recent remarks on Dr. BR Ambedkar.
Speaking at a joint press conference alongside Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Gandhi alleged that BJP MPs blocked their entry into Parliament, escalating tensions between the ruling party and the Opposition.
"The BJP and RSS are anti-Ambedkar and anti-Constitutional. Their Home Minister said this directly in the House," Gandhi stated. He called for Shah's resignation and an apology for obstructing parliamentary discussions. "The government is trying to suppress the Adani issue. The case against Adani in the US is critical, but the BJP doesn’t want it discussed in Parliament," he added.
The confrontation escalated when BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi accused Rahul Gandhi of pushing another MP, resulting in a fall that injured him. Sarangi claimed he sustained a head injury and required hospital treatment. The BJP alleged that two of its MPs were injured during the clash.
Countering these allegations, Gandhi asserted that he and Kharge were pushed and threatened by BJP members near the Parliament entrance. "This is an attempt to intimidate the Opposition and divert attention from real issues," Gandhi remarked.
The incident underscores the growing friction between the BJP-led NDA and the Opposition's INDIA bloc as Parliament remains a battleground for contentious debates.
