Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today underscored the immense potential of India's concert economy, pointing to the success of recent high-profile events like Coldplay's sold-out shows in Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
Speaking at the Utkarsh Odisha - Make in Odisha Conclave 2025, he emphasized the opportunity to boost tourism, create jobs, and elevate India's creative sector on the global stage.
PM Modi highlighted how India's rich cultural heritage, youthful population, and growing appetite for live events make the country an ideal destination for concerts. He used the Coldplay concerts as an example of the vast scope for live events in India, noting their overwhelming success.
"In a nation with such a deep tradition in music, dance, and storytelling, along with a large, youthful audience and a massive consumer base for live events, there is a tremendous opportunity to grow the concert economy," PM Modi remarked. "The Coldplay concerts in Mumbai and Ahmedabad in recent days serve as proof of the significant demand for live events in India."
The Prime Minister pointed out that top international artists are increasingly drawn to India, further underscoring the country's potential. He also encouraged both the state and private sectors to invest in infrastructure that supports the concert economy, recognizing it as a driver of revenue and job creation. Additionally, he announced that India would host the inaugural World Audio-Visual Summit next month, which will showcase the country's creative talent to a global audience.
"The concert economy not only boosts tourism but also generates a wealth of employment opportunities," PM Modi said. "I urge both the public and private sectors to focus on developing the infrastructure needed to support this growth. The World Audio-Visual Summit next month will be a key event to amplify India's creative influence worldwide. The revenue generated from such events will also contribute to the economic advancement of our states."
