Angul, Jan 27: In an unfortunate incident, a couple was electrocuted after reportedly coming in contact with live wires laid by poachers to hunt wild animals in Bantala area of Odisha's Angul district on Sunday night.
The deceased have been identified as Sura Pradhan and his wife Sukanti. The incident has been reported from Pokatunga village under Bantala police limits in the district.
As per reports, the couple was working in the farmhouse of one Bhabagrahi Dehury where they used to look after the kitchen garden. However, they had gone out to a nearby area last night for some work and did not return home.
Worried about their whereabouts, villagers launched a frantic search and found their bodies entangled with an electric wire in the forest allegedly laid by poachers to trap animals.
They were to the Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) where the attending doctors declared them brought dead.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and seized the bodies. Subsequently, they were sent for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
