Cyclone Dana: Relief & rescue operations continue in Bhadrak & Balasore

Bhubaneswar, October 24: As Cyclone Dana is set to make landfall along the Odisha coast near Dhamara- Chandbali, Bhadark in the wee hours of Friday, relief and rescue efforts are in full swing across Bhadrak and Balasore districts, informed Dr. Satyajit Naik, DIG of the Eastern Range. 

Dr. Naik, during his visit to cyclone relief centers in Bhadrak, reported satisfactory conditions at key shelters like the Red Cross Shelter in Sunamuhin and K.C. High School in Chudamani. He inspected the camps and engaged with the evacuees.

 Local police have been stationed at the shelters to oversee food distribution and maintain law and order, while backup power generators and communication systems have been established in the region. 

The local administration, along with NDRF, ODRAF, Fire Services, and police personnel, are working tirelessly in the affected districts. 

Balasore district has seen the deployment of 7 OSAP platoons, 6 APR platoons, 100 Home Guards, 3 NDRF teams, and 8 ODRAF teams. Meanwhile, Bhadrak has 5 APR platoons, 10 OSAP platoons, 2 NDRF teams, and 6 fire teams in action. In Mayurbhanj district, 2 ODRAF teams, 1 NDRF team, and 5 JCBs are actively involved in operations.

 

 The 24-hour control room has been established for real-time monitoring in the three districts under the Eastern Range. 

The Odisha government has adopted stringent measures to ensure minimal casualties, deploying various teams to assist in evacuation and rescue missions, with all departments on high alert.
