Current location: As of 9.30 p.m. IST on Thursday (October 24, 2024), the cyclonic storm Dana was located 60 km east of Paradip (Odisha), 80 km south-southeast of Dhamara (Odisha) and 180 km south-southwest of Sagar Island in West Bengal, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The cyclonic storm is moving at 13 km per hour currently.
Landfall: The IMD has predicted that the cyclone is likely to make landfall between Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapara and Dhamra Port in Bhadrak late Thursday night (October 24, 2024) or early Friday morning (October 25, 2024). Tides upto 2 metre high is expected in Paradip and Dhamara coast after midnight. The landfall will have impact for six hours in Odisha.
Odisha Chief Minister conducted a late night review of the situation at 10.30 pm in the office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) in presence of Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari and senior officials. Earlier, Majhi took stock of relief materials going to the Red Cross Bhawan.
Warning: IMD has issued a ‘red warning’ (take action) for heavy to very heavy rainfall and wind speed of 100 kmph to 110 kmph for four coastal districts of Odisha – Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur tonight.
