Balangir, April 25: Thunderstorm claimed two lives as a large tree fell on a moving auto-rickshaw in Odisha’s Balangir district on Friday.
The tragic incident took place at the Kansabahal Chhak near Athgaon village in the afternoon.
According to sources, a passenger and the driver of three-wheeler were killed after a huge Neem tree fell on it due to the hurricaning wind.
The victims were identified as Nandya Nanda, while the driver’s identity was yet to be ascertained.
The Puintala police and fire service personnel, on being informed, rushed to the spot and cut down the tree to recover the bodies.
Later, the bodies were sent for post-mortem as a routine, as a legal compliance.
