Pahalgam, Ap 26: India has deployed its indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, to the Arabian Sea in the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
The move comes at a time when Pakistan has issued a missile test alert, sparking fresh concerns over regional security.
Satellite imagery has confirmed the presence of INS Vikrant patrolling near the Karwar coast in Karnataka.
The warship’s deployment is being viewed as part of a broader strategic response by India following the Pahalgam tragedy, believed to have been orchestrated by Pakistan-based militants.
India has already taken a series of strong retaliatory measures, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, closure of a key border checkpost, and the expulsion of Pakistani military envoys.
These actions signal New Delhi’s firm stance against cross-border terrorism and its intent to hold Islamabad accountable.
According to defence sources, the deployment of INS Vikrant is aimed at reinforcing maritime security and maintaining high levels of vigilance, particularly in light of Pakistan’s vague missile notification that has not yet specified a timeframe or location.
Commissioned in 2022, INS Vikrant is India’s first indigenously-built aircraft carrier and a major asset to the Indian Navy.
The 40,000-tonne vessel can operate up to 30 aircraft, including MiG-29K fighter jets and naval helicopters, making it a formidable presence at sea.
Defence analysts suggest that the positioning of Vikrant in the Arabian Sea serves as a strong deterrent and reflects India’s readiness to safeguard its national interests, both on land and at sea.
The situation remains tense, with officials monitoring developments closely amid growing instability in the region.
