Delhi, April 25: Steel sector is the spine of our economic growth, said Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday.
Sharing his thoughts on shaping the future of India’s steel sector at the 6th edition of India Steel 2025 Conference cum Exhibition organised by the Ministry of Steel & Mines in collaboration with FICCI, Pradhan said, the steel sector is poised to play a vital role in realising the goal of Viksit Bharat.
Underlining the contribution of the PM to the growth of steel sector, Pradhan said that right policy support under the leadership of PM Modi paved the way for unlocking eastern India’s potential as steel hubs and has ensured that India enjoys a strategic position in the global steel market.National Steel Policy 2017 is steering the steel industry to achieve its full potential and also enhance steel production with focus on value-added and green steel.
“Green Steel is our opportunity to turn industrial transformation into a competitive advantage. As we reimagine the steel sector and make it more innovation-driven, we must also create avenues for our talented youth to innovate and co-create with industry”, Pradhan added.
Emphasising innovations and new technologies in line with the green earth, Pradhan also said that, “The steel of tomorrow will not just be stronger, it will be smarter and greener. This is India’s decade to showcase innovation and collaboration across sectors. Our steel industry will play a vital role in economic growth, job creation and industrial development and also in setting global benchmarks for sustainable and inclusive progress.
