New Delhi, February 22: Just two days after being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in the national capital on Saturday. The two had previously met during the oath-taking ceremony at Ramlila Maidan on February 20, where the Prime Minister attended alongside Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several other NDA leaders.
Earlier today, CM Gupta met with officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) to discuss enhancing the infrastructure in Delhi and repairing damaged roads. According to a post by Delhi BJP on X, Gupta focused on issues related to dug-up roads, traffic congestion, and road maintenance, giving clear directions to the concerned officials.
Delhi's PWD Minister Parvesh Verma also inspected the department's projects, spanning from Bhairon Marg to Sarai Kale Khan along the Ring Road. During the inspection, Verma engaged with locals and officials to hear their concerns and work toward solutions. He instructed officials to ensure roads remain durable for 10-15 years, despite the official 5-year timeframe for maintenance. Speaking to reporters, he also inquired about the progress of the 4-kilometer road stretch being repaired and how traffic congestion is managed during road closures. The official explained that the work is done lane by lane, mostly during the night to minimize disruptions.
Meanwhile, Atishi, the former CM of Delhi and AAP leader wrote to CM Rekha Gupta, expressing concern that the Delhi government had yet to approve the Rs 2,500 scheme for women. "The first cabinet meeting of your government was held on February 20, but the Rs 2,500 scheme for women was not passed. The mothers and sisters of Delhi had trusted Modi ji's guarantee and now feel cheated," Atishi stated in her letter. The AAP leader also requested a meeting with the Delhi CM on February 23 to discuss the issue further.
