Puri, March 18: With the sad demise of former Union Minister Dr. Debendra Pradhan, an era of almost half-century of the visionary leader came to an end on Tuesday.
Dr. Pradhan’s last rites were performed at the Swargadwara in the Puri shirne today.
The mortal remains of the great politician were consigned to the pyre before the noon in the presence of family members, relatives, followers and many prominent personalities.
Dr. Pradhan’s son & Union Education Minister Debendra Pradhan accompanied by his elder brothers, son and relatives lit the sacred pyre following tradional rituals.
Among others, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers Pravati Parida & KV Singh Deo, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, Yogacharya Baba Ramdev along with scores of BJD leaders were present at the Swargadwara, during the last rites.
Worth mentioning, Dr. Pradhan died at 84 on Monday in New Delhi. His mortal remains were treasured at his Bhubaneswar residence after the body was received at the Bhubaneswar Airport in the evening.
