Bhubaneswar, October 6: Biju Janata Dal leader and Rajya Sabha MP Debashish Samantaray expressed optimism regarding Congress's potential victories in the upcoming Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir assembly elections, citing exit polls that favor the party.
Speaking on Sunday, Samantaray noted that various exit polls point to Congress winning in Haryana and forming a government in Jammu & Kashmir in alliance with the National Conference (NC).
He emphasized the broader implications of these results for the INDIA bloc's strength ahead of the Maharashtra elections.
According to him, the INDIA bloc's growing influence, fueled by Rahul Gandhi's rising popularity on social media, shows a trend in favor of Congress and its regional allies.
He also highlighted the internal challenges faced by the BJP and RSS, suggesting that the INDIA alliance may need to bring more regional parties into the fold to maintain its momentum.
Samantaray also reiterated BJD's stance as an opposition party in Odisha, reaffirming that the mandate received in the state reflects their position to counter the ruling party.
Exit polls in Haryana project a strong showing for Congress, with predictions ranging from 44-62 seats, well above the majority mark of 46 in the 90-member assembly.
